One of the truths perceived when we awaken spiritually is that we have lived before. It may not dawn on us instantly. In fact, the realization may occur only after we experience a string of incidents, each of which appears relatively insignificant. We visit a place ostensibly for the first time, but know we’ve been there before. We find ourselves inexplicably fascinated by a particular culture, historical period, or figure. We meet someone for the first time and…

Great story... I like !
Observation : we have many Ning nets in common, but we talk on Mirror Dragon Intuitive Interaction... interesting... I like also !
Knowing You've Lived Before >>> any experiences you can share ? I have none... nothing definite in any case...
Best wishes,
Chris
"I want to make sure my words reflect my truth and not my momentary feelings" : nice phrasing I find...
blockages : monday morning I dreamt that I was hugging a childhood friend who punched me on the nose for no apparent reason when we were kids... I felt that I had forgiven him, and that a blockage had melted away on its own...
I tend to agree that future and past are constructs...
Blessings,
Chris
bubble multiverse theory >>> very interesting ! thanks for sharing... am tempted to further research... hopefully will be able to integrate parts of this into my artwork/music...
pets >>> so Felicia wasn't felicitous... cute story, but too bad the leporid had to go...
life view >>> not much of a Cold Play fan, but simply never explored their sound... wanna tell more about "X & Y" ?
handling conflict >>> a long time ago : forcefully and stubbornly... then more peacefully with time... have learned to defuse most before they happen... yet still depends on the conflict... perceived injustice fires me up sometimes beyond my capacity for control... hopefully getting better with each experience...
glass half full or half empty >>> neither ? probably a glassful... ;o)
free spirit >>> I would say almost-but-not-quite-yet... still have blocks and rules and unexplored territories... hopefully coming soon although I highly doubt that ideal is completely attainable in this life... but how would I know ? we'll see...
taking time to enjoy life >>> hmmmm.... no ! or from another perspective : doing it full-time... depends on what one finds enjoyable... doing what I do now is very enjoyable I find...
Your turn, same questions... ;o)
Take care,
Chris
Sorry for the extra-long delay... it's been an extra-busy week...
attributes : allowance >>> as in removing existing blocks / non-adding new blocks ? Overall, seems like an excellent rewiring method...
Books >>> CwG = Conversations With God ? I see we have many subjects in common...
Movies >>> Amelie : Yeah ! A few titles and names I have never heard of...
Have you seen Wonderfalls ? And while on the subject of TV shows, are you Lost ? I am... well, I used to be, it's been a while since I've turned on the TV...
New additions to string theory as universe bubbles >>> explain away... ;o)
On the road with the band >>> Not often enough ! We haven't had the chance to play live very often thus far, 5 or 6 dates in all in the last year or so, depending on what counts as a gig... writing is pretty much done for a while, so now we need to find a bassist and get ready for some recording... live shows will follow after that...
How long since you last sang live ?
Pets >>> none, and no intention of getting one anytime soon... but perhaps a cat at some later point... I used to want one when my I was a kid but my mom was against it...
And you ?
Siblings >>> 4 sisters and 1 brother, all older than me, I'm the baby... my dad passed away in 1993... my mom is in a home... it's been a while since I last saw them... I miss them... hopefully I'll be able to visit them soon...
How about your tribe ?
Life view >>> woah... wide question ! I'll try telegraphic : this world is musical / here to learn how to dream / endeavoring for merit so as to elevate / love is the wish-fulfilling jewel...
Yours ?
Hope the week-end is good to you...
Take care,
Chris
Do you pronounce it san or zan ?
Music is so powerful. Sound is considered fundamental in many cultures :
"In the beginning was the word..."
"Sanskrit words are still used because of the power of sound and vibration that is contained in them..."
"Vibrations turn to atoms and atoms generate what we call life..." (sufism)
"The gods danced a very long dance, with the music of the Fo drum, in the first ceremony. This ceremony gave origin to the space and time." (muisca / colombian mythology)
Religion >>> I think it is a mistake to attribute to religion what really belongs to religious people. In my view, religions offer vehicles. Some look better than others, but it's hard to know for sure how well they handle the road from the outside alone. And I'm not sure it is a good idea to judge a car by its driver...
Creating / giving birth >>> I tend to agree. Our creations grow up with us and go out there when they're ready. They meet people and form relationships, have a life of their own...
You seem to be leading a very good life. I like your morning ritual a lot. Can you give me an idea of the attributes you are cultivating ?
I meditate for 30 minutes and recite mantras daily...
I use tarot sometimes many times a day for navigation purposes, trying to have a feeling of what is the best way forward... I have one deck : the LOTR tarot and I love it... Most of the time I'm on-line these days so I often end up here : http://www.facade.com/tarot/ or there http://www.llewellyn.com/free/tarot.php
Science >>> I kind of lost faith along the way. Didn't find what I was hoping for I guess. Too much reasoning, too many assumptions... I met many people who were religious about it, and not ready to recognize it as just another belief system...
Favourite artists >>> in no particular order : Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Asimov, Tolkien, Paul Thomas Anderson, Terry Gilliam, Frank Herbert, Stanley Kubrick, Walt Disney, Pirsig, David Bohm, William Blake, René Magritte, ... way too many to list them all...
Yours ?
Current reading >>> none ! The only book I have with me here is the Lankavatara Sutra (http://lirs.ru/do/lanka_eng/lanka-nondiacritical.htm), and I (re)read it only on occasion, like when I'm on the bus...
Causes >>> again, many... the environment, animals, politics... recently : peace (via www.ipeace.me on ning)... Quebec independence for Canada...
Take care,
Chris
Rose or Rox ? Or maybe Sue ? A Leonard Cohen fan ? The story may not be exciting, but the name is original... ;o)
I used to be all outdoorsy when I was a kid... then with school and work and music, I pretty much stopped, except for the parks in town... Went on a few hiking expeditions these last few years, but that's about it...
>>> I think of music as a form of communion with a higher power. I am not religious at all.
That is also how I feel about music... Light is what music looks like...
I have been studying and practicing Buddhism intensively since the mid-90s or so... Also explored other mysticisms... Sufism, Taoism, Judaism...
Music for percussion only often has a meditative quality I find... ever heard Steve Reich's album "Drumming" ? My guess is that you'll probably like it very much....
>>> What else inspires you ? Many things... poetry, visual arts, good food, discussions, quotations, literature, especially of the Buddhist kind which is highly inspiring for me...
>>> Do you do for a living what you enjoy ? Hopefully... Getting there... ;o)
>>> What subjects speak to you besides music ? Again, many... I used to praise the 3 Ps : Philosophy, Psychology, and Physics, and explored numerous ramifications... also some geek stuff : internet, programming, web design... lately it's been mostly art, music, tarot, horoscopes, stichomancy... and activism, politics, peace...
Same questions : What inspires you? Do you do for a living what you enjoy? What subjects speak to you?
Chris
>>> I do miss the instant understanding that I experienced when I sang a song to an audience. People got it through the music and lyrics. it meant something to them and I was blessed to have been invited into their hearts.
That's indeed my motivation for making music : the experience of elevation that is shared by musicians and audience... and it's always validating to know that people receive something from the music, that it makes them travel to new places...
Blogging Goethe >>> via music or blog or artwork, transmitting knowledge is where it's at for me too...
Living in Canada >>> I live in Québec city which is a great place to live, very peaceful and free... not too big, not much pollution, only a few tall buildings, lots of parks and soccer fields... with a warmer winter it would be heaven on Earth for me... ;o)
Travel to the US >>> I haven't traveled much thus far in my life. I recall going to the US with my parents on one or maybe two occasions when I was very young... In 2003 I went to NH to climb Mt Washington with friends... and that's about it !
Music that speak to me >>> many genres, from jazz to symphonic to heavier rock... but I have a special connection with progressive rock, that's my main love...
Sanne : first time I encounter this name. Any idea of its meaning and origin ?
Take care,
Chris
>>> It was fun and terrifying being on stage. The best things in life are usually of that combination, I think.
Surely, at least some are, indeed !
Don't you miss it ? Singing is all about self-discovery, for me at least...
>>> We Are the Decisive Element
I see, and I agree...
>>> Goethe was a very smart man.
I find some of his quotes very inspiring. And thanks for this one, I blogged it the same day...
>>> Is your music a professional endeavor or hobby?
Hopefully professional so I can dedicate more time to it, and never really a hobby... it's too much of a passion to be called a hobby... ;o)
Great week-end to you !
Chris
I bought a cheap keyboard/synth while at the university, about 20 twenty years ago... soon after a bass and a classical guitar followed...
Which instrument do you play ?
What is The Decisive Element ?
Have a great day,
Chris
